Bringing Computer Vision Control to Healthcare

The Sensory GroundFX interactive display system from GestureTek Health projects engaging special effects and multimedia games directly onto the active floor. Popular in medical waiting rooms, this fully interactive display unit delivers a hybrid of creative and engaging activities and sensory experiences that stimulate children’s imaginations and lower anxiety levels. The system is activated by even the smallest of movements

GestureTek Health leads the way in gesture-recognition technology for the disability, hospital, mental health and education sectors. Our motion-activated programs for physical therapy, sensory stimulation and immersive play let patients (regardless of age, ability or affliction) have fun in a hygienic, touch-free virtual environment. GestureTek Health is a business unit of GestureTek Inc., pioneer, patent holder and world leader in video gesture control technology for presentation, information and entertainment systems.

Research-Supported Results

Research proves that patients experience marked improvement in their physical and cognitive capacity with virtual reality therapy, particularly those suffering from stoke, cerebral palsy, autism, traumatic brain injury, Alzheimer’s and other neurological motor deficits. Through research partnerships with respected universities and multi-national technology organizations, GestureTek Health continues to evolve our therapeutic offerings, focusing on physical rehabilitation, sensory stimulation, recreation for children, activation for seniors and life skills for those with severe disabilities.

An Array of Solutions to Meet Every Healthcare Needs

Interactive Rehabilitation and Exercise System (IREX®)

This stimulating computer-generated virtual reality therapy program guides patients through clinician-prescribed therapeutic exercise regimes, sports simulations and games. Activities are tailored to target specific body parts and movements. Performance and compliance is measured and recorded. Touch-free user interaction eliminates patient cross-contamination.

Immersive Therapy Suite

This mobile therapy solution brings the benefits of virtual reality therapy directly to the patient in a care facility. The system is available on a portable, rechargeable medical cart or can be permanently affixed to any wall. Patients have fun while improving their cognitive capacity as they immerse themselves in over 30 engaging interactive programs. Activities include music-making, stimulating games and tranquil sensory experiences, such as a simulated walk through the forest.

Multi-Sensory Solutions

Interactive sensory systems for Snoezelen™ and Sensory Rooms give physically and cognitively challenged people the thrill of controlling their own environment. The GestureFX™ display system creates engaging interactive virtual experiences that can include sound, and 3D and Flash animation. Effects can be delivered on any surface - floors (GroundFX®), walls (WallFX™)) or tables (TableFX™). Effects can be stimulating (such as a virtual volcanic eruption) or soothing (such as a virtual campfire).

Activation and Recreation Solutions

The virtual entertainment center is a complete wall-mounted unit that provides over 30 engaging ‘Wii-like’ activities. Players’ real-time images are immersed into exciting computer-generated environments, where they can interact with virtual characters and objects by moving their hands and bodies. No remote or other device is needed. Applications can be tailored to any age and ability. The system is popular in medical and dental waiting rooms to distract children and in nursing homes to entertain seniors.
